Your Gumroad Library
Your library is the place where you can find all of your Gumroad purchases. You can filter your Library by the product or creator’s name or sort it based on recent activity or purchase date.
How do I get a Gumroad library?
You don't need an account to make purchases on Gumroad. However, you'd need one if you want to have your library with all of your purchases in a single place.
If you create a new Gumroad account, you can access your library immediately from here. Be sure to sign up with the same email address you used to buy products, so your purchases can be automatically synced with your new account.

Removing and restoring products
In your Gumroad library, simply scroll to the product that you want to archive or delete and click the three dots on the bottom-right that appear when you hover over the product.
If you want to permanently remove the product, click "Delete permanently".

If you simply don't want to see the product in your library but might want to access it later, archive it.
You can easily see your archived products again by clicking “Show archived only” on the left side of your screen, and unarchive them again from the three-dots menu.

How do I access my purchase?
In this article, we explain how to access your digital purchase from Gumroad. If you are trying to find out when your physical purchase will arrive, you will need to contact your product's creator.
Accessing from your receipt
To access a digital product, pull up your email receipt. Click the "View content” button to go to the product’s download page.
If you have not received an email receipt, please check your spam folder. If you still can't locate it, please contact us.

Before being redirected to the download page, you might be asked for your email address. Simply enter the email you used at checkout, and you should be able to access the download page.

Accessing from the Gumroad Library
Alternatively, you can create a Gumroad account using the email address you previously bought your product(s) with. With a Gumroad account, you will be able to access your purchases at any time from your Library.

How to open ZIP and RAR files
On a Mac
Locate the ZIP file and double-click on it. That's it. A new folder will be created and all unzipped files will be there, ready for use.
If you’re trying to open a RAR file, we recommend trying with the free software The Unarchiver.
On a PC
Locate the file and right-click on it. Click “Extract all”.
For RAR files, try downloading and opening the file with WinRAR (it’s free!)
On a mobile device
Apple and Google have support documents to help you open ZIP files on your mobile or tablet (no third-party software needed!):
If you can’t open a ZIP file on your mobile or tablet, try using a laptop or desktop or update your device to its latest software update.
We advise using a laptop or desktop device to open RAR files as they require specific software.
Fixing common errors
You may see a message about the ZIP file being corrupt, password-protected, or missing some files. Please try downloading the file again from your email receipt and try unzipping again.
If that doesn't help, the file is likely corrupt and you'll have to contact the product's creator to get that fixed!

Rate and review your purchase
Leaving a written review is the best way to give product feedback to both the creator and future potential customers.

Leaving a review
After you've purchased a product, you can leave feedback from several different locations:
- Your Reviews page, which allows you to review multiple purchases in one location. From here, you can also edit previous reviews.
- The content page of the product
- The product page
If you haven't left a review in the first 5 days after a purchase, we will send you a reminder email. You can unsubscribe from these reminders using the link at the bottom of the email.
Restrictions
- You can only leave a review in the first year after the purchase was made
- For membership purchases with free trials, you cannot leave a review until the free trial has expired
- You cannot leave a review on refunded purchases (and reviews will be removed after a full refund)
How do I get a refund?

Website purchases
When you buy a product from a Gumroad creator, Gumroad only processes payments on behalf of that creator. We allow creators on our platform to set their own refund policies and issue their own refunds to their customers (i.e. you!).
Unfortunately, we can't issue an immediate refund unless the charge was fraudulent or a duplicate.
Please write to us if you haven’t heard back from the creator for 30 days since first contacting them, along with the proof of correspondence. We will reach out to them and will issue a refund if they continue to be unresponsive.
If you have issues with the product you've purchased through Gumroad or feel you deserve a refund, you should contact the creator of the product.

How to generate your invoice from the receipt
You can print your own invoice by clicking the Generate link at the bottom of your receipt.

You'll be sent to Gumroad's Invoice generator where you can enter your full name and business or personal address. Next, click “Download”, and the invoice will download as a PDF.
If you need to add optional notes such as your business' specific information or invoice numbers, you can do that in the additional notes field.

VAT ID
If you paid VAT and you're a business in the EU, you can also enter your VAT registration number and automatically process a refund for the VAT you paid. The VAT refund will take 2-3 days to arrive at your credit card or PayPal account. The invoice will display without VAT.
Please note that everything you need on your invoice should be written in the custom text box called "Additional notes" when you generate your invoice. Gumroad Support doesn't have the capability to change or adjust invoices, so be sure to add anything your tax office might need.

If you have products in your Library from purchases made long, long ago, simply open up those products in your Library and hit "View receipt"
No W9?
Because Gumroad is a C Corporation, we do not issue W9s to customers. As a C Corporation, you are not required to send us 1099s for your purchases on our site.
Safe buying on Gumroad
Buying on a secure browser
- Your payment is secured by TLS, a higher grade of security than SSL, with 256-bit encryption and using modern SHA2 cyphers.
- Your payment is processed using PCI compliant service providers. PCI compliance means that our providers meet current security standards for handling payment information. For a full FAQ on what PCI compliance entails, check out this page.
In other words, your payment details are not stored anywhere when you buy on Gumroad. We don't have access to your credit card information—only a token that represents your credit card. The same goes for your PayPal details. That means if your Gumroad account, or even Gumroad itself, were compromised, nobody would gain access to your payment data.
When you create an account with us, we use methods called "Salting" and "Hashing" to store your encrypted password. What it means is, if an attacker were to get hold of our database, they would not be able to see any users' passwords.
Your privacy
When you make a purchase on Gumroad, the creator of products will see:
- Your email address used for the purchase
- Your name or any other information that you enter into the field at checkout
They do not see your credit card information or the name on your card.
You will be asked after your purchase whether or not you want to receive updates from them. You can unsubscribe from the updates they send you through Gumroad anytime.
PayPal Connect
We have been using PayPal Connect since January 2021, which means the payment is now directly between the customer and the Gumroad creator. For both creators and customers, information such as your PayPal email address, name, and other account details may be visible on the receipt and/or your PayPal dashboard.
Apple/Google Pay
If you have Google or Apple Pay enabled on your computer or mobile device, you'll be able to purchase with just a few clicks.
Google Pay only works when a credit or debit card is linked to it. This means the button may not show up in some countries where bank accounts are linked to your Google Pay account.

Do I need to have a Gumroad account to buy products?
Nope, no account needed! Just pay for the product, and you're all set. We’ll email you a receipt with a link to your content.

Profile vs Product pages
Do you see multiple products, a creator's description of themselves, and a profile picture? This means you're on a Gumroad creator's profile page:

To buy products from a profile page, simply click the desired products and you will get a more detailed description of the product, and maybe multiple options to choose from.
The example below features a membership product where you can get content from a creator regularly (in this example, by paying monthly).

Like what you see? Click the "Buy" (one-time payment) or "Subscribe" (recurring subscription) button!
Highlighted membership
Creators sometimes highlight a Membership they are offering. You can see this by clicking the “Membership” button, next to the “Products” button:

Understanding the payment form

- Email address: This is where you will receive a receipt, invoice, and download link for the product you buy.
- Give as a gift: See the toggle here? You can click this to send this product to a friend. This will send the receipt to you, but the product to your friend. Read more here. Keep in mind that you currently cannot gift memberships.
- Discount code:* You may not see this box if it's not turned on for this product. A discount code is a discount that the creator of this product may or may not have advertised. If you know of one to enter, enter it into the discount code box. Wait for a maximum of 3 seconds to see the price change.
- Mailed to:* If the product you are looking at is displaying this field, you need to enter your shipping address. If your country does not have ZIP Codes (and most don't) simply enter your Postal Code.
- Card Number: This is what it's all been building up to: Entering those sweet, sweet credit card digits. Depending on the policies of your credit card provider, you may be asked for more information to ensure that your purchase is not fraudulent.
- Business VAT ID*: You can also enter a valid VAT or ABN ID if you're in the EU / UK or Australia to get the VAT refunded. You will also be able to refund the VAT through the link in your receipt. If our system detects your IP address to be outside of the EU / UK you will not see this on your checkout form and you will not be able to refund the VAT to yourself, because you will not have paid any VAT.
*You may or may not see this field, depending on what kind of product it is, where you are or how the creator set it up.
Common errors
If you do not fill in all the fields of your payment form, they will appear highlighted, and prohibit you from proceeding. However, there may be something else amiss.
For more information, see this article. Briefly, though, you may be blocked for one of the following reasons:
- CVC Code: If you enter the wrong CVC code, your payment will not process. Make sure all your credit card details are correct before clicking "pay."
- Zip code verification: You may find a pop-up window asking you for your "zip code." When this happens, your credit card provider is communicating with our processing engine, asking us to verify that you are the person using this card. If you don't live in the United States, enter your Postal Code without any spaces. For example, ”BH13 6BD” should be entered as ”BH136BD”.
- Provider policies: If you don't receive a specific error message, your credit card provider may be blocking your purchase from finalizing. Usually, a quick call to them will solve this. Just ask them to "whitelist" Gumroad.com, and attempt your purchase again.
Discount codes
To reiterate, at the checkout screen, you may see a box appear where you can enter a discount code. If you are aware of a discount code that this creator has advertised, enter that now and wait a maximum of 3 seconds for the price to change.
After a successful purchase
You will see a success message and your receipt will be emailed to you.
Double-check the email address here. Is there a typo? Then copy the wrong email address and let us know the misspelled email and to which email address the product should be sent. If you don't know the misspelled email address, don't worry. We have other ways of finding your purchase, and we will be happy to fix it for you.

Your purchase is complete
After you've bought a product on Gumroad, you can enter a password to sign up for a Gumroad account. Why would you do this? To take advantage of the Gumroad Library. The Library allows you to access your product at any time by logging into Gumroad. If you are buying a membership, you have to create a Gumroad account at the time of purchase.
From your Gumroad receipt, you can also easily repurchase a product, download the product, or open it in our iOS or Android app.
Why did my payment fail?

When credit card or PayPal purchases fail, it's difficult to determine where along the processing line an error was made.
Rest assured, Gumroad is always doing its best to take your money... In a good way! We mean that in a good way!
But here are a few things that may have happened, as well as what you can do to help solve the situation.
TL;DR
If your payment fails on Gumroad, the following steps can be helpful in getting your purchase through:
- Try the purchase in a different browser, or update your browser and try again
- Try the purchase on a different device
- Turn off browser extensions and VPNs and try again
- Contact your card provider or PayPal and ask them if there are any blocks or limitations on your account
Blocked by PayPal
You may not have sufficient funds on your debit card, or in your PayPal account, to make this transaction go through. PayPal may also be under the impression that your account has been hijacked, and is preventing you from making a purchase.
Please contact them to move things forward.
Blocked by the card processor
Sometimes a bank will flag transactions that happen online. Contact your bank and let them know what's happening. They should be able to whitelist Gumroad so that you can make a purchase.
We often encounter issues with prepaid or gift cards because these card processors often reject online purchases—this is not something we can fix on our end, unfortunately. You would have to call your card processor to ask them to clear the purchase.
Zip code errors
If you are being asked to enter your Zip or Postal code, that means that your credit card provider is asking you to verify that you know the Zip code attached to your card.
The Zip code or postal code we need is the one stored by your credit card provider. If you are unsure about this, please contact your credit card provider.
Proxy server issues
You are using a proxy server. Please turn off the proxy and attempt the purchase again.
Browser error
Please try the purchase in a different browser.
If you still experience errors, please download the latest version of your Internet browser and try again.
Blocked by Gumroad’s risk system
Our risk detectors may have accidentally blocked you from purchasing. Please use "incognito" or "private" mode on your browser, and try the purchase using a different email address.
Chargeback against Gumroad
If you charged back against a purchase made on Gumroad in the past, our risk detectors are going to automatically flag your IP address and not let you make a purchase.
Please contact your payment processor (PayPal, or your bank) and ask them to withdraw the dispute. Once the chargeback is withdrawn successfully, you’ll be able to purchase on Gumroad again.
If that doesn’t help, please try using a different device, email address, and payment method to make the purchase.
How do I give a product as a gift?
When you get to the checkout form, click the “Give as a gift” toggle to allow for gifting.

Just below the recipient's email, you will also see the option to send a personal message to the person you are gifting.
Once you’ve gifted the product successfully, we’ll email you a receipt and the person you gifted it to will receive an email with the product’s download link and your personalized message.

To send a previously purchased item as a gift, simply return to the URL of the product, click “Purchase again”, and toggle the gift option to send as a gift.
Gifting Membership
You can gift a membership to someone for the first charge of a certain subscription period (1 month, 3 months, etc.). The membership will not auto-renew. The gift recipient must update the payment method from their receipt to renew the membership.

Wishlists are a great way for you to save products that you wish to buy at a later date. You can create multiple wishlists for different categories and even make them public to be shared. Try browsing Gumroad Discover to find products you’d like to save to your wishlist!
Creating wishlists
You can create a wishlist by navigating to any product page that you’d like to save and clicking the “Add to wishlist” button on the right-hand column. The dropdown arrow will show both a list of previously created wishlists and the option to create a new list.
Viewing and editing your wishlists
Once you’ve created and added products to your wishlist, you’ll see a list of your wishlists on the Saved tab of your Library. Here, you can also delete a wishlist by clicking the three dots on the right.

Clicking on the name or URL will navigate you to your publicly available Wishlist page where you can:
- Change the wishlist’s name
- Edit the products within the wishlist
- Copy a link to the wishlist to share with others
- “Buy this wishlist” which will take you to the cart with all available products added. If the product is unavailable, even if it is on the wishlist, it will not be added to the cart at checkout.

Sharing wishlists
The link under the wishlist’s name is a shareable URL that is publicly available for others to see.
Gifting from wishlists
If someone else is viewing your wishlist with the public URL, a "gift this product" button will appear on giftable products. This allows others to gift products to you from your wishlist.

How Gifting from wishlists works:
- It must be a "giftable product," which means the product is available to purchase and not a subscription or preorder (we don't support gifting those at this time)
- Clicking the gift icon button will take them directly to checkout and:
- Clear their existing cart
- Add just that product to the cart
- Prefill the gift option
- The gift option will be prefilled with the wishlist creator’s username, but unlike normal gifting, their email will be hidden. The gift option can be toggled off and back on to gift it to someone else by email, as usual.
Follow Wishlists
You can follow other users' wishlists to find products you like. To do so, click the Follow Wishlist button at the top of any public wishlist.
Under the Following tab in your Library, you can find the wishlists that you have followed.

PayPal Connect
We have been using PayPal Connect since January 2021, which means the payment is now directly between the customer and the Gumroad creator. For both creators and customers, information such as your PayPal email address, name, and other account details may be visible on the receipt and/or your PayPal dashboard.
Apple/Google Pay
If you have Google or Apple Pay enabled on your computer or mobile device, you'll be able to purchase with just a few clicks.
Google Pay only works when a credit or debit card is linked to it. This means the button may not show up in some countries where bank accounts are linked to your Google Pay account.

We do accept prepaid and gift cards, however, because these cards are often used for fraud, the card companies that back them often do not recognize or have not yet authorized Gumroad to process their cards, and thus may prevent us from charging the card.

Nope, no account needed! Just pay for the product, and you're all set. We’ll email you a receipt with a link to your content.

Profile vs Product pages
Do you see multiple products, a creator's description of themselves, and a profile picture? This means you're on a Gumroad creator's profile page:

To buy products from a profile page, simply click the desired products and you will get a more detailed description of the product, and maybe multiple options to choose from.
The example below features a membership product where you can get content from a creator regularly (in this example, by paying monthly).

Highlighted membership
Creators sometimes highlight a Membership they are offering. You can see this by clicking the “Membership” button, next to the “Products” button:

Understanding the payment form

- Email address: This is where you will receive a receipt, invoice, and download link for the product you buy.
- Give as a gift: See the toggle here? You can click this to send this product to a friend. This will send the receipt to you, but the product to your friend. Read more here. Keep in mind that you currently cannot gift memberships.
- Discount code:* You may not see this box if it's not turned on for this product. A discount code is a discount that the creator of this product may or may not have advertised. If you know of one to enter, enter it into the discount code box. Wait for a maximum of 3 seconds to see the price change.
- Mailed to:* If the product you are looking at is displaying this field, you need to enter your shipping address. If your country does not have ZIP Codes (and most don't) simply enter your Postal Code.
- Card Number: This is what it's all been building up to: Entering those sweet, sweet credit card digits. Depending on the policies of your credit card provider, you may be asked for more information to ensure that your purchase is not fraudulent.
- Business VAT ID*: You can also enter a valid VAT or ABN ID if you're in the EU / UK or Australia to get the VAT refunded. You will also be able to refund the VAT through the link in your receipt. If our system detects your IP address to be outside of the EU / UK you will not see this on your checkout form and you will not be able to refund the VAT to yourself, because you will not have paid any VAT.
*You may or may not see this field, depending on what kind of product it is, where you are or how the creator set it up.
Common errors
If you do not fill in all the fields of your payment form, they will appear highlighted, and prohibit you from proceeding. However, there may be something else amiss.
For more information, see this article. Briefly, though, you may be blocked for one of the following reasons:
- CVC Code: If you enter the wrong CVC code, your payment will not process. Make sure all your credit card details are correct before clicking "pay."
- Zip code verification: You may find a pop-up window asking you for your "zip code." When this happens, your credit card provider is communicating with our processing engine, asking us to verify that you are the person using this card. If you don't live in the United States, enter your Postal Code without any spaces. For example, ”BH13 6BD” should be entered as ”BH136BD”.
- Provider policies: If you don't receive a specific error message, your credit card provider may be blocking your purchase from finalizing. Usually, a quick call to them will solve this. Just ask them to "whitelist" Gumroad.com, and attempt your purchase again.
Discount codes
To reiterate, at the checkout screen, you may see a box appear where you can enter a discount code. If you are aware of a discount code that this creator has advertised, enter that now and wait a maximum of 3 seconds for the price to change.
After a successful purchase
You will see a success message and your receipt will be emailed to you.
Double-check the email address here. Is there a typo? Then copy the wrong email address and let us know the misspelled email and to which email address the product should be sent. If you don't know the misspelled email address, don't worry. We have other ways of finding your purchase, and we will be happy to fix it for you.

Your purchase is complete
After you've bought a product on Gumroad, you can enter a password to sign up for a Gumroad account. Why would you do this? To take advantage of the Gumroad Library. The Library allows you to access your product at any time by logging into Gumroad. If you are buying a membership, you have to create a Gumroad account at the time of purchase.
From your Gumroad receipt, you can also easily repurchase a product, download the product, or open it in our iOS or Android app.
Why did my payment fail?

When credit card or PayPal purchases fail, it's difficult to determine where along the processing line an error was made.
Rest assured, Gumroad is always doing its best to take your money... In a good way! We mean that in a good way!
But here are a few things that may have happened, as well as what you can do to help solve the situation.
TL;DR
If your payment fails on Gumroad, the following steps can be helpful in getting your purchase through:
- Try the purchase in a different browser, or update your browser and try again
- Try the purchase on a different device
- Turn off browser extensions and VPNs and try again
- Contact your card provider or PayPal and ask them if there are any blocks or limitations on your account
Blocked by PayPal
You may not have sufficient funds on your debit card, or in your PayPal account, to make this transaction go through. PayPal may also be under the impression that your account has been hijacked, and is preventing you from making a purchase.
Please contact them to move things forward.
Blocked by the card processor
Sometimes a bank will flag transactions that happen online. Contact your bank and let them know what's happening. They should be able to whitelist Gumroad so that you can make a purchase.
We often encounter issues with prepaid or gift cards because these card processors often reject online purchases—this is not something we can fix on our end, unfortunately. You would have to call your card processor to ask them to clear the purchase.
Zip code errors
If you are being asked to enter your Zip or Postal code, that means that your credit card provider is asking you to verify that you know the Zip code attached to your card.
The Zip code or postal code we need is the one stored by your credit card provider. If you are unsure about this, please contact your credit card provider.
Proxy server issues
You are using a proxy server. Please turn off the proxy and attempt the purchase again.
Browser error
Please try the purchase in a different browser.
If you still experience errors, please download the latest version of your Internet browser and try again.
Blocked by Gumroad’s risk system
Our risk detectors may have accidentally blocked you from purchasing. Please use "incognito" or "private" mode on your browser, and try the purchase using a different email address.
Chargeback against Gumroad
If you charged back against a purchase made on Gumroad in the past, our risk detectors are going to automatically flag your IP address and not let you make a purchase.
Please contact your payment processor (PayPal, or your bank) and ask them to withdraw the dispute. Once the chargeback is withdrawn successfully, you’ll be able to purchase on Gumroad again.
If that doesn’t help, please try using a different device, email address, and payment method to make the purchase.
How do I give a product as a gift?
When you get to the checkout form, click the “Give as a gift” toggle to allow for gifting.

Just below the recipient's email, you will also see the option to send a personal message to the person you are gifting.
Once you’ve gifted the product successfully, we’ll email you a receipt and the person you gifted it to will receive an email with the product’s download link and your personalized message.

To send a previously purchased item as a gift, simply return to the URL of the product, click “Purchase again”, and toggle the gift option to send as a gift.
Gifting Membership
You can gift a membership to someone for the first charge of a certain subscription period (1 month, 3 months, etc.). The membership will not auto-renew. The gift recipient must update the payment method from their receipt to renew the membership.

Wishlists are a great way for you to save products that you wish to buy at a later date. You can create multiple wishlists for different categories and even make them public to be shared. Try browsing Gumroad Discover to find products you’d like to save to your wishlist!
Creating wishlists
You can create a wishlist by navigating to any product page that you’d like to save and clicking the “Add to wishlist” button on the right-hand column. The dropdown arrow will show both a list of previously created wishlists and the option to create a new list.
Viewing and editing your wishlists
Once you’ve created and added products to your wishlist, you’ll see a list of your wishlists on the Saved tab of your Library. Here, you can also delete a wishlist by clicking the three dots on the right.

Clicking on the name or URL will navigate you to your publicly available Wishlist page where you can:
- Change the wishlist’s name
- Edit the products within the wishlist
- Copy a link to the wishlist to share with others
- “Buy this wishlist” which will take you to the cart with all available products added. If the product is unavailable, even if it is on the wishlist, it will not be added to the cart at checkout.

Sharing wishlists
The link under the wishlist’s name is a shareable URL that is publicly available for others to see.
Gifting from wishlists
If someone else is viewing your wishlist with the public URL, a "gift this product" button will appear on giftable products. This allows others to gift products to you from your wishlist.

How Gifting from wishlists works:
- It must be a "giftable product," which means the product is available to purchase and not a subscription or preorder (we don't support gifting those at this time)
- Clicking the gift icon button will take them directly to checkout and:
- Clear their existing cart
- Add just that product to the cart
- Prefill the gift option
- The gift option will be prefilled with the wishlist creator’s username, but unlike normal gifting, their email will be hidden. The gift option can be toggled off and back on to gift it to someone else by email, as usual.
Follow Wishlists
You can follow other users' wishlists to find products you like. To do so, click the Follow Wishlist button at the top of any public wishlist.
Under the Following tab in your Library, you can find the wishlists that you have followed.
